Interdisciplinary artist Sarah Cameron Sunde’s immersive video works investigate the human relationship with water, connecting her viewers with the natural landscape and with large scale environmental phenomena. For this program, Sunde will be joined by faculty from UGA and the University of Virginia for a conversation about art, environment and global community. Panelists include: Michael Marshall, associate director of curriculum, director of the social ecology studio and professor of art, Lamar Dodd School of Art, UGA; Stephen Ramos, associate professor at the College of Environment and Design, UGA; Mandy Joye, Athletic Association Professor in Arts and Sciences in the Department of Marine Sciences, UGA; and Matthew Burtner, Eleanor Shea Professor of Music (Composition & Computer Technologies), UVA. An exhibition of Sunde’s work, “36.5 / A Durational Performance with the Sea,” is on view September 19, 2020 – January 17, 2021. This program is cosponsored by the Willson Center for the Humanities and Arts.
