Yoga in the Galleries

Join us for a yoga class surrounded by works of art in the galleries. Led by instructors from Five Points Yoga, this program is free and open to both beginner and experienced yogis. Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis; tickets are available at the front desk starting at 5:15. Yoga mats provided.

Seven of Athens’ established venues for visual art hold “Third Thursday,” an event devoted to art in the evening hours, on the third Thursday of every month. The Georgia Museum of Art, the Lamar Dodd School of Art, Lyndon House Arts Center, Glass Cube & Gallery@Hotel Indigo-Athens, Ciné, the Classic Center and ATHICA will be open from 6 until 9 p.m. to showcase their visual-arts programming. Studio Workshop: Bookbinding

Thursday, September 19• 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm

Athens-based artist and Piedmont College professor Brian Hitselberger will lead a series of studio-based courses exploring various bookbinding techniques and approaches. Various book structures will be explored, and participants will leave with an understanding of how to bind their own books, and how to bring variation to traditional structures. Artists from all backgrounds are encouraged to attend, as these sessions are designed for enthusiastic beginners as well as more seasoned practitioners. The sessions will draw inspiration from the museum’s collection, including works from the archives and many not currently on display. The cost of the course is a $15 materials fee, which will cover all necessary supplies for the four sessions (September 5, 12, 19 and 26).
