Gifts and Prayers: The Romanovs and Their Subjects

Saturday, Sep 03, 2016 — Saturday, Dec 31, 2016

This exhibition of exquisite objects from a private collection (on extended loan and a promised gift to the Georgia Museum of Art) showed how the Romanov family of Russian rulers commissioned, used and distributed gifts to solidify its hold on power. It included portrait paintings, military medals and orders, statuettes, icons and snuff boxes, among many other items. It was also accompanied by a fully illustrated hardcover book, written by curator Asen Kirin and published by the museum.
